Your MAGICAL CERVIX

Here's something every woman should know:

Your cervix changes every week of your cycle!

This is important to know for contraception & conception and can be used as a biomarker of your overall health.

So, what exactly is your cervix?

🍩 It's the doughnut shaped tissue at the bottom of your uterus that connects the vaginal canal to your uterus. It's the place where the outside world meets your inside world.

πŸ’₯ It's an erogenous zone, known as the C-Spot, yes! Cervical organisms can be a deeply spiritual experience.

πŸ’¦ The cervix produces cervical fluid, which acts as natural lubrication and allows sperm to make their way up the uterus and to fertilise an egg.

☝️ The cervix moves up and down your vaginal canal depending on what phase of your cycle you're in. Without balanced hormones your cervix can't produce cervical fluid and it won't move.

Let's look at the positions of the cervix in each phase:

  • Menstrual Phase (your period) the cervix is low, firm to the touch, feels like your nose and slightly open to allow blood to flow out.

  • Follicular Phase (the 7 or so day after your period ends) the cervix is low, firm to the touch, feels like your nose and is closed, not allowing anything in or out.

  • Ovulatory Phase (the middle of your cycle) the cervix is high inside your body, open, soft to touch and kinda it feels like your lips. At this time the cervix produces cervical fluid which can look watery, creamy or egg-whitey. This is the only time in your cycle when you can conceive, it lasts for about 6 days.

  • Luteal Phase (the 1-2 weeks before your period, aka the PMS-zone) the cervix is low, firm to the touch and is closed, not allowing anything in or out.

You can check your cervical position by placing a clean finger inside your vaginal canal, do this every day for a month to feel what's happening inside your body.

If you're not noticing cervical fluid and if your cervix isn't moving it's a sign that your hormones are out of balance.

If you don't notice cervical fluid in the middle of your cycle and you're experiencing other symptoms of hormonal imbalance like; bloating, headaches, moodiness, irritability, sore boobs, constipation, diarrhea, acne or fatigue... please know these things don't have to be a staple in your life. They are not normal. You don't have to suck it up and keep going. You can live without Pain & PMS.

I go deep on how to naturally balance hormones inside my program Infradian Life Academy. This is where I support women through diet and lifestyle changes that lead to Pain & PMS free periods.
